World Series Game 7 Attracts 51M Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total US viewership was 16.1M. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
